Oyster Habitat Maintenance January14th

Please help Restore Our Shores with some upkeep and maintenance of oyster habitats at the ROS office in Rockledge! These oysters will be used in the future oyster reefs placed in the IRL this summer. 

Volunteers will be conducting general maintenance of the habitat itself along with some cleaning of the shells to remove any predators, barnacles, etc. All tools and instruction will be provided.

We are looking for volunteers ages 15 and up to help with the maintenance.  This is not specifically a water activity, but you will get wet and dirty from the habitats.  Please dress accordingly for the weather but also protect yourselves (i.e. wearing long sleeves/pants).  In order to be as sustainable as possible, we do not provide water bottles.  There will be water to refill a water bottle that you bring with you.  Light snacks are provided at breaks but please bring with you anything you will need for the morning.  Closed toe shoes are mandatory (no flip-flops, Keens, or Crocs).

A volunteer waiver will be emailed to you prior to the event, as well as details pertaining to location.    (IMPORTANT:  We will need a new volunteer waiver filled out for the year 2025.)

*Please let us know if you need us to fill out a form verifying your volunteering time with us.  Please bring the form with you the day of the event, or we can provide you with one.  This will need to be done the day of the event.
